How to clean your wool rug?
Our first tip is to make moderate use of the vacuum cleaner on the carpet.
The vacuum cleaner is content to remove impurities on the surface of the wool, pulling out the most fragile wool strands. It will be ineffective against the dust deposited in depth. Be careful, regular use of the vacuum cleaner can remove a lot of wool from the carpet, often the softest wool.
The cleaning of a Beni Ouarain carpet will depend on the type of tasks to be removed. It is most often common tasks such as coffee or chocolate, easy to eliminate. Heavy duty tasks such as grease will require the intervention of a professional.
Our second tip is not to wait to stain a carpet to clean it.
Remember to remove the dust from the carpet fairly regularly. The best way is to return the carpet. The dust will be deposited on the ground by gravity without intervention on the wool. This operation can last 2 or 3 days and will be more effective if you walk a little on the carpet from time to time.
Washing a carpet will always be more effective in the absence of dust.
Most of the time, the washing should be done in cold water, on a terrace for example, by tilting the carpet. A simple jet of water not too powerful enough to rid the wool of its impurities. It is not necessary to scrub the wool. Wash the carpet only if it is really necessary. Indeed, too frequent washing will tend to yellow the wool over time.
The use of cleaning products must remain exceptional.
If you have a coffee stain to remove, you can then use a mild shampoo or a special wool product by diluting it 5 times in warm water.
Do not wash the entire carpet but only the stained area. Make gentle and regular movements like washing a child's hair. Do not use a colored cloth, choose your hands that will be the most skilled to massage the wool without damaging it. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of cold water.
To dry a carpet, it is best not to expose the wool to the sun. Turn it over and lay it flat on a clean surface.
If a task persists, repeat the wash operation a few days later. If the task is really persistent, call in a professional wool carpet cleaner.
How to clean your Mauritanian mat?On leather parts you can apply a cream or a clear polish. On fiber parts a simple passage of wet sponge is most often enough.
We recommend not to dry in the sun a carpet of vegetable fibers.
